Replica
In the artificial and natural realm of REPLICA, performers Frederique Rodier and Jean-Benoit Labrecque embark on a profound exploration of the history of the replica, delving into the essence of representation of the body through time. This choreographic odyssey unfolds as a captivating archeological performance of movement, inspired as much by ancient, mythological reproductions of the human form as by digital self-representations and commercial replications of our environments today. Unfolding within a scenographic garden that unveils the complexities and nuances of the human form, the performance transforms into a living, breathing axis mundi -- a queer garden of Eden—a world within worlds that challenges gendered notions of body; a reflection on utopia and dystopia, and that in between state where the liminal is viscerally represented on stage.
